Don’t know if you film fans out there had a chance to catch K8 Vision’s work on Reelz TV the other night (Feb 19). That’s when the Visual Effects Society’s 10th Annual Award show aired. If you saw it, you saw the one and only Martin Scorsese collecting an award for his amazing film Hugo. And you saw it happening on a set we designed at an event we art directed. Needless to say, a good time was had by all!

Taking Soho House West Hollywood back in time for their 2011 New Year’s bash was a blast. We turned the exclusive club into a 1920s circus themed set with theatrical lighting and static trapeze performances. K8 Vision was responsible for everything from the circus banners and scary clown statuary to the wait-staff wear and lighting design. Basically, we worked with Soho House to conceive the eve, then make it happen. Make that “happening!”

Ask K8 Vision to do a crafting event for kids — especially one that’s collecting holiday gifts for needy families in the L.A. area — and we’re so there.

We created a tree with doves and ornaments just for Baby2Baby’s 2011 holiday crafting event and toy drive. While we were at, we went all “winter wonderland” on the place (providing styling and decor for the event).

Gift givers in attendance included lovely and generous Angelino Christina Ricci.

Brentwood just got a little cozier. How is that possible? Simple, K8 Vision worked its holiday magic at Giannetti Home, one of the tony community’s favorite places to shop any time of the year. Thanks, Giannettis! ‘Twas another wonderful year to do display for you!

Abbot Kinney Blvd’s eclectically chic boutique, Colcha, gets its holiday on courtesy of K8Vision, Santa’s favorite little helper when it comes to displaying Christmas cheer (if we do say so ourselves)!

Actually, make that Seattle-adjacent Bellevue, WA, whose Splendid store was made splendider by another installation of Karen Kimmel’s splendiferous Crafting Community event. Designed, built and installed by K8 Vision, the hands-on crafting event was, per usual, a hit with kids of all ages.

Splendid and Karen Kimmel also did a crafting event at Scottsdale’s Museum of Contemporary Art, where I also did the decor. It was full on “bead for all” where attendees made their own beaded necklaces or DIY fabric scarves. Everyone had a ball.

We did the decor for two Splendid events in Scottsdale, Arizona. The first was adjacent to the Splendid store in the city’s Fashion Square Mall. And it was as much fun as it looked like. I love doing the decor on these brilliant, bright events!

Splendid, an innovative retailer currently opening stores across the country, hooked up with my client, Karen Kimmel’s Crafting Community, to promote its brand by throwing kid’s crafting events. And K8 Vision created the decor! The first one went down outdoors at Los Angeles’ The Grove.

K8 Vision’s second Milk + Bookies event at the Skirball Cultural Center was every bit the success as our first one. Making big creatures and secret hideaways out of books is just fun. And seeing the looks on the faces of kids and parents when they interact with paper maché peacocks—not to mention Jack Black—makes all the work on the event worth it!
